The P.G. Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology, St. Thomas College, Bhilai organized a one day National Workshop in collaboration with Biocontrol Laboratories, Pune on the topic Development of Microbes and Metabolites for Sustainable Agriculture in Farmers Laboratory” through virtual mode. The main objective of this workshop was to increase agricultural productivity in an environmentally sustainable manner in farmers laboratory.

Dr. Santosh B. Chavan, Directorof Jai Kisan Shetkari Gat; Yeranda, Washim District, Maharashtra was the guest speaker of this workshop. He enlightened the participants on how to solve the problem of imbalanced used of chemical fertilizers which has a negative impact on our environment. He also gave an insight on the preparation methods of biofertilizers using different bioinoculants like Trichoderma and Phosphate solubilizing bacteria etc. He enlisted different sources for developing manure like animal dung, poultry, hotel waste etc. A total of 95 students and faculty members participated in this workshop.




Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon congratulated all the departmental faculties and said that St. Thomas College organizes such type of innovative workshops on regular intervals. This one day National workshop was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. V. Shanti Head, Microbiology and Biotechnology and Assistant Professor Dr. Ujjwala Supe . The Workshop started with the welcoming of the resource person by Dr. Shubha Diwan, Assisstant Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Ekta Saxena.
