The PG. Department of Commerce under the aegis of Comm-Zenith the commerce association organized 5day Faculty Development Program on “Financial Investments and Tax Planning” from 25/6/24 to 29/6/24 in collaboration with MoU partner Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya Bhilai . This programme focused on various investment avenues along with their tax planning. It was in blended Mode.

The Inauguration of the program was held on 25/6/24 in which Principal of St.Thomas College Mr. M.G. Roymon was Guest of Honour. Sir said that Personal Financial Planning is a significant issue however not many people are aware of the appropriate ways to address it. The FDP therefore aimed at giving insights to the participants about the vital aspects of financial planning. Dr. Sandhya Madan Mohan, Principal of Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya was the special Guest. Madam said that it is difficult for a common man to manage the funds that are available. Such Faculty development program will provide opportunity to the participants to get knowledge of various investments in managing their funds and saving taxes.Dr.Sapna Sharma Head PG. Department of Commerce of St. Thomas College and co-odinator of the program gave an overview of the activities during the five days. Dr.Bharti Verma Head PG. Department of Commerce of Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya and coordinator proposed Vote of thanks. 

    The  resource person for the first day session was Mrs. Anjali Hinduja Singh who is an alumni of Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya and also Director and founder of Caring U Academy.  Her  topic was “Taxation, Need of Tax Planning for Salaried Individuals with Pros and Cons”. The second day’s session was in blended mode by Mr. Daljit Singh Chawla who is certified finance professional and his topic was “Let’s Talk Money”.  Third day’s session was on online mode by CA Nitin Rungta an Alumni of St. Thomas College, Bhilai  and his topic was “Investment Planning Post retirement”. On the fourth day, the resource person was Mr. Somendra Patil Founder and CEO of Trade X Advait and an alumnus of St. Thomas College, Bhilai. He covered the topic Mutual Funds,Derivatives and Tax Planning. Fifth Day was the last day where in the first session the resource person was CMA Mr. Ujjwal Yadav who focused on “Insurance Insights towards Investments and Tax Planning”. The second session was the Valedictory session in which Dr.O.P.Gupta Professor & Head Dept of Commerce of Kamla Devi Rathi Mahila PG. College, Rajnangaon (CG) was the Chief Guest. Sir said that in the present scenario there is a change in financial planning; one should fix certain percent of their income for saving. Sir also congratulated both the colleges for the conduct of the program. He emphasized on more of such collaborative activities in future. Dr.Sandhya Madan Mohan Principal of Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalya in the valedictory session thanked the Patrons of both the colleges Dr. P.S Varghese of St. Thomas College, Bhilai and Shri Vijay Gupta of Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalya for their support and guidance. She thanked Dr. M. G. Roymon Sir Principal St. Thomas College Bhilai for signing MoU with their college. She thanked the coordinators of the program for the collaborative event. Dr. Madhuri Devi Asst. Prof. of Bhiiali Mahila Mahavidyalya, Dr. Prateek Sharma Asst. Prof. of St.Thomas College and Dr.Neelam Gandhi Asst. Prof. of St. Thomas College conducted various sessions of the 5 day program. Faculties of both the colleges coordinated in making the program successful. This FDP provided an opportunity to the participants to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to take better financial decisions. The Management of both the colleges congratulated the PG. Department of Commerce of both the colleges for the success of the program.
